PAST TENSE


English to speak at last use two types of verbs:

Regular verbs: These verbs ending in "ed", eg: I Worked [aiguorkt]. I worked. I Studied [aisstadid]. I studied.

Irregular verbs: These are the verbs that appear in a list of three columns and whose pronunciation is to memorize (infinitive / past / participle). For example: "do" [du] do. You did it [iudIdIt]. You did.

Structure: Subject + verb in "Past Tense" + complement.

Example 1: I woke up at seven o'clock yesterday [at sevn oclock aiguokap iesterdei]. (I) I woke up at seven yesterday.

Example 2: She Studied [shisstadid] Spanish. She studied / studying Spanish.

Example 3: It worked (Itguorkt]. Worked / worked. (A machine, for example).

Example 4: They lived in Paris [deilIvdInPeris]. He / They lived / living in Paris.

How is refusing to "Past Tense"?

Denial structure: Subject + did not (did not) + main verb + infinitive always complement. (The auxiliary verb did is the same for everyone.)

Example 1: They did not work hard. [Dei didn'tguork hard]. He / They did not work hard.

Example 2: She Did not live here [Shi dIdn'tlIvhiir]. She did not live here.

How do wonders with the "Past Tense"?

Structure questions: Did + subject + verb + infinitive always add?

Example 1: Did you study? [DIdiusstadi?] Did you study (you)?

Example 2: Did she live here? [DIdshilIvhiir?] Did you live (it) here?

Review of structures:

Positive Subject + Verb in "Past Tense" + complement.

Negative Subject + did not (did not) + main verb + infinitive always preached.

Question Did + subject + main verb in the infinitive + complement +?

Remember:

- To deny and ask in the past using the auxiliary verb "did" [did] to all people.

-The verb "Did" is an auxiliary verb (does not mean to do) and therefore should NEVER be used in conjunction with the verb "to be". For example, do not say: "Did not are." (Incorrect), but "you were not." (Right).
